The Concertband Maasmechelen originated in the Limburg Mining District, specifically in the Royal Wind Orchestra of the Coal Mines of Limburg, located in Eisden-Maasmechelen (Limburg-Maas). This top music association was a pioneer in wind music after World War II, emphasizing quality with concerts and competitions in Spain and Italy. After the closure of the mines, the orchestra was disbanded. Several years later, the wind orchestra returned under a new name: the Concertband Maasmechelen.
In addition to concert tours in the United States and China, the series of TOP2 Concerts were well-received by the general public in post covid times. The current highlight was winning the title of "Champion of Flanders" for the second time during the VLOH in March 2023 and a ticket for the ECWO 2024 in OSLO.
